7 – 8 March 2026, Dire Dawa

Dire Dawa Civil Society Network (DDCSN) successfully conducted a two-day training of trainers on civic and voter education for peer educators selected from youth, women and persons with disability association.
The training aimed to equip peer educators with basic knowledge and practical skills in civic and voter education, thereby strengthening the inclusive participation of citizens, especially vulnerable groups, in democratic processes.

The delivery of this training enabled peer educators to gain a basic understanding of citizens’ civic rights and responsibilities, electoral processes and voter participation, inclusive community participation and representation, and peer-to-peer community awareness-raising strategies, and significantly enhance their capacity to train their peer members in thier associations.

Following this training, the peer educators pledged to use the programs organized by their respective associations, as well as the ongoing awareness-raising programs organized by the Dire Dawa Civil Society Network (DDCSN), to raise awareness among their fellow members as well as the general population of the city, to mobilize all citizens to participate in the electoral process in an informed and active manner in the upcoming 7th national elections.
This initiative reflects DDCSN’s continued commitment to strengthening the civic and democratic awareness of citizens and to strengthening the participation of the margnalized group.

Together, let’s build an informed, inclusive, and active society!!!
